I won a poetry contest!

I won a poetry contest!

I wanted to share with you all that my chapbook manuscript, Measuring by Echoes, won the 2022 November Poem-A-Day Chapbook Challenge over on the Writer’s Digest poetry blog, Write Better Poetry!

I have been following this blog for many years, as Robert Lee Brewer has faithfully hosted both the April Poem-A-Day challenge and the November Poem-A-Day Chapbook Challenge. He also posts a poetry prompt every Wednesday and various poetry-related interviews periodically. The April challenge involves writing a poem every day in the month of April based on the posted prompt. The November challenge is the same, with the additional challenge of editing and compiling the poems you write into a small collection (a chapbook) and submitting them in January. I’ve participated in the challenges with varying degrees of success (this April I got 6 or 7 days in before falling off the wagon), but the November challenge was the first time I’d actually submitted. The community that participates in these challenges is full of talented poets who have been writing for a long time, so I was really just hoping for an honorable mention. I’m still not over being pleasantly flabbergasted at the results!

The announcement post features some of the winning poems, so head over there and give them a read!

  1. Congratulations, Cherish! I’ve just read your poems featured on the Writer’s Digest article announcing your win in their 2022 November Poetry Chapbook challenge. I hope that you’ll get ‘Measuring By Echoes’ published. And I hope to read more of your work online.
Prayers and Blessings from the Fiji Islands 🇫🇯 Thank you. Siteri
